Remote Fit by TGG

Precision fitting from home, checked by real opticians

Ordering prescription glasses online usually means guessing at the measurements that matter most: where your eyes sit behind each lens. Remote Fit by TGG measures them from a few photos taken on your phone, and a licensed TGG optician personally reviews every result before your lenses are made.

How it works

  1. Order your glasses. After checkout you get a private Remote Fit link for each pair, on your order confirmation and by email.
  2. Tell us about the glasses you’re wearing. Any pair you already own and wear. The size printed inside the arm gives us a precise scale.
  3. Take your photos. Two straight-on photos (one looking far away, one looking at the phone) and, if you like, one from each side. Ideally a friend takes them; a timer works too. About five minutes.
  4. An optician takes it from there. A TGG optician places and checks every measurement, works out how your lenses should sit in your new frame, and asks for a retake if anything isn’t clear. Nothing is made until they approve it.

Why it matters

Two measurements decide how comfortable and clear your lenses feel: pupillary distance, measured separately for each eye, for distance and for reading, and fitting height, where your pupil sits in the lens. They matter most for progressive, bifocal, strong and high-index lenses, where a few millimetres change what you see. Remote Fit measures each one rather than relying on averages.

Real opticians, not just an app

Software helps with the photos, but people make the decisions. Every Remote Fit measurement is reviewed and approved by a licensed That Glasses Guy optician based in Chattanooga. If something needs confirming, we’ll reach out to you directly.

Your photos stay private

Your photos are stored privately and used only to fit your glasses. They are never used for face recognition or advertising, never sold, and are deleted automatically on a set schedule after your fitting. Read the Remote Fit privacy notice for the details.

Questions

Do I need anything special?
Just a phone with a camera and a pair of glasses you already own. Use the normal 1× camera or the selfie camera, not the 0.5× wide lens.

Which glasses should I wear for the photos?
A pair that fits you well. If you’re putting new lenses in your own frame, wear that frame.

What if my photos aren’t right?
Your optician will ask for a retake and tell you what to change. Your link takes you straight back to the photo step.

Can I do it in person instead?
Of course. We’re appointment-only right now with no public storefront, so email info@thatglassesguy.shop to arrange an in-person fitting, or book a private concierge fitting where Matt comes to you.

Remote Fit for practices

Remote Fit is built so other optical practices can offer the same optician-reviewed remote fitting to their own customers.

  • Your opticians, your decisions. Your team reviews and approves every fitting in a dedicated workspace. One optician works on a fit at a time, and every action is logged.
  • Your team, your seats. Invite your staff and set their roles yourself, within the seats your licence includes.
  • Built for online orders. Connects to Shopify so each pair ordered gets its own fitting link, reminders and approved values on the order.
  • Privacy by design. Private photo storage, automatic deletion schedules and versioned customer consent.
